The Eyes That Follow Me

The eyes that follow me

I don't see a smile in them.

I don't see hatred too.

I just find wonderment

Clouding at their hem.

The eyes that follow me

Suddenly change their colour,

Tell me silent stories,

Ask me questions,

Yet lack my flavour.

The eyes that follow me

At times, are tender and innocent

And ooze with life

Young and lively, yet

They lack peace and contentment.

The eyes that follow me

Are hiding behind hopelessly,

So I shall ignore them.

But I see them far

Tracking mine relentlessly.

The eyes that follow me

Hide their motives too.

They suffer but to hide the lust,

The vigour, the valour that someday

May reveal their hues, grey but true.

The eyes that follow me

May now retreat and retire

As mine are tired and tasteless.

And mine merely exist

In full of bewildering despair.
